PM Harper Declares National Historic Site…A Museum

I GUESS IT’S GOOD, WON’T MEAN MUCH THOUGH, BUT IT WILL PERHAPS STABILIZE A FEW VOTES FOR SOMEONE
Prime Minister Harper was in the Halifax region to designate a national historic site…a National Museum.
“Pier 21 symbolizes who we are – a nation of newcomers,” is what the PM had to say when asked why he chose to turn the already historic site, into a national museum.
Defence Minister Peter Mackay said that “one in five Canadians can trace their ancestry to this point. If they had all stayed here, we’d be larger than Toronto and I know we’d have a better hockey team.” The crowd of Conservative supporterrs laughed and cheered at that suggestion.
The pier was used for troop deployment during the second world war and sent more than 500,000 men overseas to fight the Nazi led invasion of Europe. It was also a landing point for more than 1 million men, women and children who immigrated to Canada between 1928 and 1971. At this moment it is unclear whether or not the CONservative party headquarters’ are mining the details of those immigrants to create a vote me mailing list.
Frankly, changing “official” designations is nothing other than a vote buying measure.
