Ontario Government Burning Millions On E Health

The Ontario government through its’ health ministry has pissed away millions of taxpayers dollars on consultants, bonuses and exorbitant wages.
Ontario Health Minister David Caplan is under fire for reportedly allowing eHealth Ontario to award contracts valued at more than $5million while circumventing the tender process, paying out a $114,000.00 bonus to a person who worked for only 5 months,(who by the way had a starting rate of $380,000.00 per year)
and for paying a consultant $300 an hour to check to see if a voice mail message sounded good enough for the public to hear.

eHealth Ontario was started after its’ previous incarnation as Smart Health systems peed away $647 million attempting to setup a health ministry database that truly amounted to absolutely nothing, and turns out was of no benefit to the Ontario government as the database is not functional. Basically a bunch of consultants made a crap wad of money on the backs of Ontarios’ taxpayers…to the tne of $647million.
One consultant billed the ministry more than $2750.00 per day for their unknown services for which the ministry sent a cheque.
The government claims that they have the right to award contracts without tender if the matter is urgent. Caplan claims the matter is urgent as the work needs to be completed by 2015.(Gee, I guess that 6 years for a bit of data entry sounds about right eh?)
Just another rip off of our money. While people are losing jobs on the streets of Ontario and families continue to lose their homes during this giant recession our Ontario government continues to pee away your money without any care or concern for what they are doing with it.
Chalk one up for another year of suffering under this government.

This is just business as usual for socialized medicine. That 647 million is just one item. How much money have they pissed away that you don’t know about?

We have hospitals that are cutting back on patient care because they are running over budget while the government is squandering hundreds of millions on computer toys.

We have waiting lists for surgery and cancer treatments, unless you’re an elected member of the legislauture or an incarcerated criminal. They automatically move to the head of the line.

Our medical system isn’t about delivering patient care. It’s about finding every possible way to AVOID providing patient care. Caring for sick people costs money. Patients are a liability. They soak up vital funding that could be better spent on administration and expanding the bureaurocracy.

I don’t like the sounds of some of this spending…but
Computerizing medical records is very difficult for one simple reason….every doctor want to do it his/her way. It’s like herding cats.
Every system the goverment builds has to accomodate several / many variants just to keep the docs “happy”.
So if the public wants to complain about the cost, complain to those causing the problem…doctors

Yes lets do away with our "socialized medicine" and do it the proper AMERICAN way. That way 90% of us can pay for insurance (we all know the insurance companies will take care of us) and lets not forget the left over 10% that can't afford it…they can just f*** off.

These systems are not a simple computer database…this is a HUGE project that does take a large some of money…how ever I do not approve of waistfullness. Taxpayer should be getting the best value for their money.
