Rift Developes Between Stafford Parents

The parents of missing Woodstock 8 year old, Victoria Stafford appeared to “break-down” during an afternoon news conference after the father of Victoria “freaked” out over the mothers’ admission of hardcore drug use prior to the young girl going missing.
Rodney Stafford, in a public news conference condemned his former spouse for her overuse of the opiate like prescription drug and for not being forthright with the public about her drug problems after Victoria went missing. Rumours have been circulating throughout the city of Woodstock regarding drug issues and drug debts but nothing had been publicly acknowledged by any party until yesterday.
The argument nearly led to a physical altercation on the streets in the MaDonald house vicinity with the boyfriend of Tara MacDonald, James Goris, confronting Stafford in a threateneing manner. The local police arrived in short order, but it appeared that intervention was not necessary.
Stafford said to the media that as far as he was concerned,” Everyone is a suspect including his ex-wife.”

Why is she still allowed to keep her son?

“Why is she still allowed to keep her son?”

Perhaps the CAS approve of her political affiliations.

Oxy is a serious drug addiction and challenging to beat and I give anybody credit who tries and particularly, succeeds. I’ve worked in the legal field for many years including a four-year stint with CAS. CAS is a joke. Just like all of the families they “help” they are completely dysfunctional. Dose of reality for the public. If the CAS took away every child from every family for what the public percieves as a breach of good parenting, most children would be in care. Then they would get to go to group homes and foster care where they are exposed to more bad behaviour and on more occasions than the CAS would like to admit, physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Taking a child away from a parent is an absolute last resort. There is nothing harder for a child emotionally than to lose their parent, even a not-so-perfect parent. Unfortunately, just like adults, children sometimes have to struggle in their lives. Our struggles make us who we are and many times, better people for having struggled.

As far as Mr. Stafford goes, since he thinks mom’s private life is the business of the public, maybe he should come clean and tell everyone what an exemplary parent he has been. If Tara is so terrible, where was he for so many years? Oh, let me guess, he was shafted by the justice system because he is a man. Whatever. The fact of the matter is he just didn’t care enough to be there or do anything about his relationship with his child until she went missing. Abandonment is just as bad for a child as other forms of abuse. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

I just watched the referenced interview. Mr. Stafford appears to have known about Tara’s drug struggles. Not that it has anything to do with Tori missing but I would like to hear his explanation for the absences in his children’s lives. What was he so busy doing that he disappeared for large chunks of time from his children’s lives. Incidentally, a year, six months, five months…this is a long time when you have only lived less than ten years. Hopefully if Tori comes back alive, Mr. Stafford can use his time to try and become “father of the year” and maybe stick around this time.

CAS may not be the answer but those 2 kids need to be protected and allowed to heal from the incredible dysfunction they live under. Where else can they go? Neither family has a healthy enough home for them, including aunts, uncles and grandparents. They all know those kids have been bounced around. Where were they till now?

Neither one of these parents cares about those children. The father has been AWOL while he finds himself. They mother has been AWOL with drugs. The lack of emotion that Stafford was angry about, “flattened emotion” comes with drugs use, prescribed or otherwise, and narcissism. This woman has projected from day 1. Its always someone elses fault.

She never truly reaches out to her kids in these press ops. She has never once thanked anyone for their support and volunteer efforts, regardless of the venue. The balloons and media hype wont bring that child back but this mother hasn’t expressed any gratitude to anyone for anything.

Drugs are the bottom line here. Whether its payback or bad debts or otherwise. It is the reason that child is missing and whoever took her expected things to be different until that video surfaced and then they went to plan B, which could be much worse than all the major denial people of Woodstock are ready to accept. When you play with fire you get burned. You cant wheel and deal in hardcore drugs and expect a carefree life without threat. Both parents shoulder the blame for that.

    What are the police doing?

It seems to me that both parents love their children. They may not be the best parents but we don’t all get to have a perfect childhood and sometimes having a bad parent is better than no parent at all. Tara has been put under a microscope all the while undergoing a terrible, terrible event in her life. None of us would probably fare well. As for the drug connection, well in actual fact it doesn’t look like Tara’s involvement in drugs had anything to do with this. There is a minimal connection in that she knew the people through the use of drugs but apparently they did not even know they had her child. Appears to be random and it could have been anyone’s child. It’s just too bad there are such animals in our world.
