Government Announces Increased Funding For Student Support For Employment

ONTARIO PLEDGES ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR ONTARIO STUDENTS
The Ontario government has announced that it is planning on supporting student employment initiatives with an additional layer of funding by the amount of of $32 million for this summers’ student employment program.
Ontarios’ 2009 budget mandated the increase of 57% over last years’ Ontario Summer Jobs program budget in order to assist employers and students over the summer months in providing and finding summer jobs.
Students can apply for government jobs or funds to start their own summer businesses. Employers can apply for wage subsidies for up to $2.00 per hour. The range of age for eligibility is 15-30.
Students are advised to make application quickly as there will only be room for an additional 27,000 persons under the program.

    Hmmm. Time to lay off a couple more and replace them with some of those government subsidized students. 🙂
