Americans Loosen Restrictions On Cuba

US PRESIDENT SHIFTS EMPHASIS FROM EMBARGO ON CUBA

In what some media reports are claiming to be a “shocking display of common sense” US President Barack Obama has lifted numerous restrictions on Cuba that have been in place for nearly a half century that previously included travel ban restrictions and restrictions on exchanges of money with Cubans.
The US President says that he believes that by opening up this dialogue with Cuba that Cuba will hopefully change its’ direction and will allow for some democratic action in their country. He says the next move is up to Cuba. There is no word from Raul Castro on what the Cubans’ offical response will be to loosening the embargo.
Raul Castro stepped in to take the place of his ailing brother Fidel who stepped down as leader of the country in 2008 after a ruptured stomach made it impossible for him to carry out his daily duties in a responsible manner.
