Ho Hum…So They Say The State Has A Place In Your Garbage

WHEN PUTTING OUT GARBAGE…REMEMBER, WET DOG FECES ON TOP…IMPORTANT SCHRIEBER-MULRONEY STUFF…UNDERNEATH…PREVENTS UNNECESSARY GOVERNMENT MEDDLING IN YOUR GARBAGE

I have a friend who has worked for the evil(lol) revenue ministry for many years now. He has regaled me with stories from his work in the tax corps, and for many years has warned me…don’t put your garbage out on the curb near your own home…the government drives around in cube vans picking up stuff at night and then they do investigative searches of the garbage that was retrieved making careful note of the location of pickup etc..
I used to think that he was joking until this week when the news broke that the courts say that the guv has the power to pick through your garbage at the side of the road even without a proper warrant. Yesterday the Supreme Court of Canada in a 7-0 ruling said that no violations of privacy took place by the government when searching the garbage of a suspected ecstasy dealer for evidence. The courrt said that this right also extends to tax investigators, police and other government agencies. They said that the moment you leave your trash on the curb…it is no longer yours.
(that don’t add up…if I din’t put a tag on the garbage here, the city will come and charge me…even though I no longer own the garbage according to the SCC.)
So to be on the safe side, I suggest finding wet dog feces to put in every bag…in fact…rent a dog from the neighbour if your must. Another good measure to prevent meddling in your garbage would be to switch garbage bags with old ladies or something down the street if you are concerned about who may be looking through your refuse. Another good idea is to use your important documents that your are planning on throwing out as toilet paper…rendering them uselesss…to anyone but the most hardy investigator.
It used to be that in those identity theft commercials that you’d see some dirty guy trolling garbage bags at night…but now it’s the government you must worry about…more than identity theft. They are the trolls. No doubt about it.

‘They said that the moment you leave your trash on the curb…it is no longer yours.”

If the ruling is actually worded to state that once it’s on the curb it is no longer your property then you’re right. That opens up some interesting possibilities. Whose is it? Who is responsible for it? Why should you have to pay to tag something that doesn’t belong to you?

Dontcha just love the law? 🙂

ps: just buy a goddam shredder fer Pete’s sake.
