A Submission…AW…Woodstocks Art Gallery

THIS WRITER TAKES SERIOUSLY THE ART GALLERY ISSUE

I just read a letter to the editor written by a “former curator and educator.” You can read it here, http://www.woodstocksentinelreview.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1477226
This letter is nothing more than a piece of condescending, misleading crap. He makes it appear that the division on council is nothing more than the natural differences that will occur when two reasonable public minded groups disagree on a course of action. That is a complete misrepresentation. That is a LIE.
The report presented by Lord Cultural was a pack of exaggerations, misrepresentations and errors. The presenter’s responses to questions were evasive and answers were fabricated out of whole cloth on the spot. The “pipes behind the existing gallery answer” is a prime example. There are no such pipes or conduits. She made it up.
Mr. Graham goes on to say, “Mayor Harding who, amidst sometimes rancorous debate was a voice of reason and moderation.” Again I say bullshit. The only times Harding entered the fray were when The Lord rep was having trouble ducking questions and might have had to resort to telling the truth.
He was defending her and undermining attempts to get to the truth.
Sandy Graham thinks we should view a blatant attempt at deception and a corruption of the feasibilty study process as “all part of the give and take of sounding out ideas in this political forum.” Bullshit Mr. Graham. There can be no reasonable give and take unless both parties present their views in an honest and forthright manner. When one side controls the dialogue and feels comfortable with lies and manipulations as tools to further their goals there is no free debate.
Bullshit, Mr Graham. Bullshit.

Does anyone know who Sandy Graham is? I’ve asked a couple of the local arty and political types and they’ve never heard of him. All the letter says is, “Sandy Graham is a former curator and educator who has worked in heritage for twenty-five years.” I guess that’s supposed to mean he’s someone who is uniquely qualified to express an expert opinion on turning decrepit old hulks into state of the art galleries.

I’d be more impressed if he indicated just what he’s a “former curator” of. I’d also like to know what “worked in heritage” means? For all we know that could mean he works for Lord Cultural Services.

Former educator? Sorry. I’m old enough to remember when that meant you were just a retired school teacher.

I’d encourage anyone reading this to watch the council meeting in question on Rogers cable and see if you agree with Mr Graham’s assessment. This smells like more of our Mayor’s PR campaign to me.

I watched the council meeting on Rogers the other day.The entire thing was just a sales job for the old shoppers building.
We need a new gallery like we need to have a new hole in our heads.
