American Stimulus Package Contains Buy American Codicil

AMERICANS’ STIMULUS PACKAGE HAS A BAN ON FOREIGN GOODS IN IT

Barack Obama the US President has handed out his first bitch slap to foreigners with his announcment that his economic stimulus package contains a codicil that states all goods used for his stimulus package must be made entirely in America with entirely American made materials which to me seems to go against the “spirit” of free trade and seems to be a direct move towards protectionism in the USA.
The move by the Americans has triggered concerns around the world but not more than in Canada and Mexico where our two economies are linked directly to the Americans through NAFTA.
Considering the USA appears to not be interested in maintaining the agreement as per the agreements’ terms, then perhaps it is time for Canadians to once more examine the possibility of abrogating that agreement in order to modernize it or remove it entirely.
If the USA doesn’t have to live within the terms of the agreement, then Canadians shouldn’t have to either.

It’s the same policy that you have voiced your approval over at the local level. How is it any different than the City of Woodstock policy of purchasing local goods and services wherever possible rather than sourcing from other communities?

Obama’s move to limit stimulus spending to American goods and services makes perfect sense. It’s public money designed specifically to stimulate the American economy. It should be spent in America.

If Harper’s stimulus money was used to purchase American goods and services you’d be screaming your head off.

When Mr.Obama was elected a lot of people were jumping with
joy. Not knowing what his politics are. But this is just typical from the left.

Let us see what he is or has done in about a little over a week has Pres.

1)He has already started to put pressure on Canada to extend the Afghan mission.

2)We now have this stimulus package in the U.S.great isn’t?

    But hey he’s Mr.Obama!
    Just imagine the reaction on
the liblogs if Mr.Bush was still the Pres. But I digress!

    LOL!
Im just saying that if the Americans can trounce on the NAFTA…then we ought to be doing the same darned thing. I’m not saying that I disagree with Obamas’ move, I’m saying that if the USA cannot keep its’ end of the deal, then we ought to be doing something for Canada and that includes looking at the NAFTA and determining whether or not it is still good for us in this economic climate.
Canadians for Canada and Americans for the USA. Sounds good to me.

“2)We now have this stimulus package in the U.S.great isn’t?”

Stimulus package? It’s the mother of all Pork Barrels. It’s a Democrat spending orgy. Take a look at some of the line items and they’re not designed to stimulate the economy. It’s just a massive leftie shopping list. They’ve budgeted 300 million for climate modelling. There are NO unemployed climate modellers in America. The global warming industry isn’t laying off. This is just a golden opportunity for these loons to shovel piles of cash wherever they want to.

There is one small problem with this Mr.Bender!
    Obama leads a country with 300 million people,we’re a
country with just over 30 million. If my math is correct that’s 10 times more then us. My point is that we need to trade with them more so then they need to trade with us. A great example just take a look at China. We forget about their human rights record just so we can trade with them.

We’re a small country we need to trade. We can’t just reopen NAFTA,now its not the right time to do so. The markets don’t need doubts. Just an example how the free market works. If someone farts in the middle east the price of oil sky rockets upwards.
