PARTY HACKS, POLITICAL WASHUPS AND GEEZERS VYING FOR SENATE APPOINTMENTS.

SURE, KEEP THE PARLIAMENT EMPTY AND STACK THE SENATE…SOUNDS LIKE DEMOCRATIC REFORM TO ME
Oh I’m so happy that I get to sit here and watch how our “government’ takes care of business these days. It’s little wonder the country is falling to pieces in front of our eyes. (dum, dum, dum…the drum roll goes here)
First they decide to take an enormous summer recess, then they drag us back to the polls for no other purpose than to attempt to solidify their power base, then when that fails they decide to try and knock the legs out from under the opposition instead of working on plans to govern the country responsibly in a time of global economic uncertainty therefore wasting time, money and energy on a childish strategic desire to beat the Liberals back into the subterranean caverns where Stephen Harper hailed while heading the party that was headed nowhere.
And now out of nowhere comes the call for more senators to sit in the hallowed halls of non-accountability…the senate. This garish tradition of appointing friends and hacks into permanent job positions where they actually do very little if nothing at all to benefit the country in any real manner has got to come to an end. We have enough driftwood in Ottawa already without adding more dried up sticks to the pile.
But I suppose that in all fairness we must give Mr Harper some credit for having the balls to go against his inner being(it must have been a brutal argument with himself) proving once again how little of an ideologue he really is in comparison to what we all thought. Each day that passes leaves Harper looking more and more centrist than ever before and this must come as a surpise to the people who placed him at the helm of his very right wing party.
Whatever comes of this infernal mess, one thing we do know for sure is this; the cronies that make it to the upper chamber will no doubt be well insulated from the impending meltdown of the Canadian economy…perhaps Harpers’ plan for financial stability.

    Stack the Senate?
Do you know the bias of senate appointments in favor of the Liberal party?
In no way can Mr harper “stack the Senate”, it’s already stacked!
what he’s planning to do is avoid further stacking of the Senate and the continuation of an unelected wing of the Liberal Party.

Saying it twice won’t help. Mentioning that all Harper’s appointees must agree to step down if future Senate reform results in an elected Senate won’t help either.

You’re on Liblogs. These guys WANT a Liberal Senate. They’re ENTITLED to a Liberal Senate. Just like they’re entitled to a Liberal government …whether it’s elected or not.
