Taliban Sets Up Parallell Government in Kandahar

WAR IN AFGHANISTAN IS ALL BUT LOST
According to reports from Afghanistan it would appear that the Taliban has gained control of large swaths of Kandahar province and are now even operating quasi-judicial courts to mete out punishment in cases of land disputes, robberies and murder.
One villager who refused to be named out of fear for his life said “The Taliban announced to the villagers that if they face any kind of problems, they should come to the court and they will find a transparent judgment,” he said. “They deal with a number of cases: land disputes, family disputes, loan disputes, robbery, killing, fighting… and the people are happy with them.”
An amazing revelation considering that entire region is under canadian military control…suppposedly. But then again, not so amazing.
The villagers went on to state that they weren’t sure who they felt more comfortable with; the taliban or the corrupt national government because treatment is the same.
To me it has become quite apparent that Canadas’ troops have been sent into a region where there is absolutely no possibility of coming out on top of the situtation. Fairly soon the only thing left for them to defend wil be there own skins on their own turf.

A pretty fair assessment I think. The Taliban are determined and they have time on their side. If they can win over the rural population to their side our guys may as well come home.

The enlightened West has tried to impose its superior (sarcasm) culture and government on an unwilling population and failed (again.)

Here’s a novel approach. Why not let the Afghanis decide how they want to run Afghanistan? That should be their right. If they decide to start supporting international terrorism again we can smack them with air strikes. History has demonstrated many times that only a fool tries to win a ground war in Afghanistan.

    ‘Just bring the men home.”

Yeah, just leave those thousands of liberated women that are teaching school, practicing medicine and otherwise sinning against Allah to the tender ministrations of the Taliban. The ones that are stoned to death will be the lucky ones.
